The Problem:

A 120 person Architectural/Engineering (A/E) firm located in a rapidly growing city in the western US was solicited by one of their most important long-term clients to perform an increased number of projects over a short period of time.  Due to the strong regional economy, our client A/E faced a shortage of design and CAD talent in the local labor pool and therefore had a hard time trying to hire more professionals to successfully undertake the increased workload on such short notice.  In an attempt to locate the requisite resources, the firm almost let the project submittal schedule deadline pass because of the backlog they faced, risking disappointing their client in a highly competitive engineering market.

The Promise:

The A/E firm contacted Americas Resources to request its assistance in working through the production backlog.  What was originally intended and planned as a 12-week work schedule to perform CAD and preliminary design work on that project, was turned around with an Americas Resources promise in just shy of 4 weeks to the A/E firm.  Additionally, Americas Resources saved the A/E firm $37,500 in labor, on a job valued at $199,200. The A/E pocketed a small, unexpected profit on a project that originally appeared might run behind schedule and over budget.

The Result:

Americas Resources worked under a short fuse and tight-budget to turn around the work within the prescribed time frame and preserved the integrity of the A/E with their long-standing client.  After a one-year business relationship, Americas Resources has – at the request of this A/E firm – established a virtual production team exclusively dedicated to their firm’s work.  The A/Es Project Managers are now are comfortable in signing more contracts without the fear of potential backlog and are able to proactively assist their clients growing list of needs in other, more remote locations.  Americas Resources has not only helped them take on more work, but has also allowed the firm to achieve up to a 40% reduction on production costs for each project.  This has amounted to more than $350,000 worth of savings since the partnership was established.
